Every document VFS UK asks for when you renew an adult Indian passport — including immigration and address proof — ticked off in one place.
Renewing an Indian passport from the UK is straightforward once your documents match what VFS expects. This checklist covers the signed application form, your current passport, UK immigration proof, recent address proof, and the exact photo specification — plus the extra documents Tatkal applicants need.

Only if you are applying via the fast-track Tatkal route.
Missing something or unsure if a document qualifies? We check every file before submission so nothing gets rejected at VFS.
Requirements vary by applicant type and route (normal vs Tatkal). This is a general guide — we send a tailored checklist for your exact case within one working day.
Two avoidable errors cause most VFS rejections:
The normal route is the cheapest and suits most renewals where you apply before your passport expires. Tatkal is the fast-track option for urgent travel: it carries a higher fee and requires two additional Indian photo-ID proofs (such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card or Indian voter ID) on top of the standard set. If your travel is imminent we will advise whether Tatkal is worth it.

You need a printed, signed online application form, your original current passport plus self-attested copies of the first two and last two pages, proof of UK immigration status (BRP both sides or a UKVI eVisa share-code printout), UK address proof dated within the last three months, and two ICAO photos (35×45mm, white background) with your signature inside the box.
The normal-route fee for a 36-page adult passport is around £100 plus the VFS service charge of roughly £18.60, and processing typically takes 4–6 weeks once your documents reach the High Commission. Tatkal is faster but costs more and needs extra ID proofs.
Yes. As BRPs have been phased out, a printout of your UKVI eVisa with a valid share code is accepted as proof of UK immigration status. If you still hold a valid BRP, photocopy both the front and the back.
A recent utility bill, council tax bill, bank statement or your UK driving licence — dated within the last three months and showing your current UK address.
