Renewed from home, VFS booked for you
Renewing your Indian passport from the UK is straightforward once the paperwork is set up correctly — and that is exactly the part NriDirect takes off your hands. We build your full Passport Seva application, size your photograph to the current ICAO 35×45mm standard, produce the UKVI Share Code that VFS now asks for (the replacement for the BRP card retired in 2025), and secure your VFS appointment at the jurisdiction that covers you. It is a nationwide, fully remote service backed by WhatsApp support seven days a week. From £100 with NriDirect. Standard renewals run 4 to 5 weeks; Tatkal (urgent) issuance is 5 to 10 working days where you qualify.
For police verification, we supply a work-letter template so you are not left guessing at the wording.
The £100 NriDirect fee covers our full service; the Indian government / VFS charges are separate and paid directly at submission. For that fee you receive:
The rules move quietly, and two recent shifts have tripped up many people applying alone. First, the BRP card was retired in 2025 — VFS now expects a UKVI Share Code instead. Second, the accepted photo size changed to ICAO 35×45mm (the old 51×51mm print is now rejected). On top of that, biometric e-Passports with an embedded RFID chip began rolling out through the Birmingham jurisdiction in 2026; we let you know when that applies to your case. We confirm the live rules before you order so nothing catches you out.
Standard renewals take 4 to 5 weeks from VFS submission, and Tatkal is 5 to 10 working days if you qualify. Because appointment slots can take weeks to open, we suggest starting 8 to 10 weeks ahead of travel. If you are struggling to find a slot, our VFS Priority Appointment service can help. If you have become a British citizen since your last passport, you should not renew — arrange a Surrender Certificate instead. And if your renewal is tied to an OCI update, OCI Link to New Passport keeps the two applications aligned.
We prepare Indian passport renewals every week for clients right across the UK, so the changes that surprise first-time applicants — the Share Code switch, the new photo spec, jurisdiction quirks — are simply part of our routine. Our team works in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Gujarati, and you can reach us by phone, WhatsApp or email throughout, including evenings and weekends.

Yes. Indian nationals based in the UK apply through VFS Global centres, which process passport work on behalf of the Indian High Commission. You do not travel to India for a routine renewal.
Standard processing usually runs 4 to 5 weeks from the day your application is submitted at VFS. Where you qualify, Tatkal (urgent) issuance is typically 5 to 10 working days. We confirm current timings and your Tatkal eligibility before you order.
Yes. VFS captures biometrics in person, so your attendance is required. Everything leading up to that visit — the Passport Seva application, document checks, photo formatting and the appointment booking — we take care of remotely.
India does not permit dual citizenship, so you cannot keep an Indian passport once you hold British nationality. In that case you surrender the Indian passport, obtain a Surrender Certificate, and then apply for OCI rather than renewing. We can arrange the surrender for you — see our Surrender Certificate service.
Yes. A lost or stolen passport can be replaced. You will need a UK police report and a sworn affidavit; we prepare the affidavit and guide you through the report so the file is accepted.
Since BRP cards were withdrawn in 2025, VFS relies on a UKVI Share Code from gov.uk to confirm your UK immigration status instead of the old card. You generate this code and send it to us with your documents; a missing Share Code is now one of the most common causes of rejection.
Yes. We process name changes for marriage, divorce or a legal deed change, as well as adding or removing a spouse's name. Please include the relevant certificate (for example your marriage certificate) with your documents so we can evidence the change correctly.
