Can I apply if my husband or wife holds an OCI card rather than an Indian passport?
Yes. Being married to an OCI cardholder qualifies you, the same as being married to an Indian passport holder does. Do both of us really have to go to the appointment?

Our marriage certificate is not in English. Does that hold things up?
It only holds things up if you submit it as-is. A certified English translation is required, and a foreign certificate usually needs apostille or attestation too. My spouse is a British citizen but was born in India. Am I still eligible?

How long have we needed to be married to qualify?
At least two years. This is a firm requirement for spousal OCI and cannot be waived, so if you are close to the two-year mark it is worth timing your application accordingly. We flag this early so nobody prepares a file that will be turned away.
If we separate or divorce later, do I lose my OCI?

Standard OCI applications run through VFS, but spousal OCI is submitted directly to the High Commission of India (HCI).
