How long it takes#

Plan for 8 to 10 weeks end to end in London when both stages run together. The surrender certificate is normally issued one to two weeks after your Goswell Road visit; the OCI card typically follows within the usual 25 to 35 day processing window after submission. The single biggest cause of a slower timeline is running the two apart — the OCI clock physically cannot start until the surrender certificate is in your hand, so a piecemeal London application stacks two waits back to back instead of overlapping the preparation.

The centre is at 142-148 Goswell Road, EC1V 7DU, in Clerkenwell/Finsbury, about 10 minutes' walk from Barbican, with Farringdon, Old Street and Angel also close by. From most inner-London postcodes it is around 25 minutes by tube. There is no applicant parking; the address sits inside the ULEZ and on the edge of the Congestion Charge zone, so driving in is rarely worth it — come by Underground. Carry your original Indian passport, your British passport, the naturalisation certificate and your printed appointment letter, and arrive a little early as security and biometrics take time.
