The good news is that the Elizabeth line, which now runs straight through Southall station, has made this trip far easier than it was in the Heathrow Connect era. Head east toward Whitechapel or Liverpool Street — roughly 30 to 35 minutes — then it is a short walk or one stop down to Aldgate East (District and Hammersmith & City lines), from which Alie Street is a 3–4 minute walk.
That single direct line is genuinely the upside of being in Southall: no fiddly changes, no driving into the congestion zone, no parking hunt in the City. The catch is that Alie Street is the only lodging point for the entire region. There is no Croydon office and no Wembley desk; everyone — Harrow, Southall, Slough, Hounslow — funnels to the same finite set of appointments, and a returned application means making the Elizabeth-line trip all over again.
