Bristol

Bristol's Indian community of around 12,000 is one of the fastest-growing in the South West, driven by a professional cohort of NHS doctors at Southmead and the BRI, software engineers in the harbourside tech cluster, and students at the universities. Settled Hindu and Sikh families have lived around Easton, Eastville and St Pauls for decades, while a newer wave of young professionals concentrates in Clifton, Bedminster and the Gloucester Road corridor. The nearest VFS centre is London Aldgate, around 1 hour 40 minutes by GWR direct service from Bristol Temple Meads. We pre-check the dossier in Bristol and book the London biometrics so it can be done as a comfortable day return.

London is the designated centre for the South West. VFS Cardiff is geographically closer (45 min by train) but officially Bristol residents route via VFS London for OCI and Indian passport biometrics. We'll confirm before you book.
Only after British naturalisation. Until then, we can renew your Indian passport via VFS London or arrange a same-day in-and-out trip from Bristol so you don't lose a clinical session.

From 1 April 2026 a brand-new Income-tax Act replaces the 1961 law you grew up with. The 'assessment year' is gone, a single 'tax year' takes over, and the residency day-count tightens for higher earners. Here is what actually changes for a UK-resident NRI — and what quietly does not.
